Audi A4 History
The Audi A4 is a compact five-seater compact car assembled by German Audi since 1994. The first generation Audi A4 continues the traditions of the previous four generations of the Audi 80, and, like its predecessor, the design of the Audi A4 car consists of a longitudinally oriented engine in the front of the car and mounted to the rear of the transmission engine, again longitudinally oriented. The torque is distributed either to the front axle, or with the patented Audi technology quattro, on both axles with the distributive torque differential, thus forming a full drive.
Since its inception, the Audi A4 has been available in four generations based on the Volkswagen Group's 'B' series of automotive platforms, mostly known by their codes: the original B5, the following B6, B7, B8 and current B9.
The Audi A4 is available in two bodies - Saloon, which is a sedan, and Avant - the name used to refer to Audi cars with a type of body wagon (wagon). The second and third generation Audi A4 (B6 and B7, respectively) were also manufactured in the cabriolet and had the same name as the "Cabriolet". However, the generation Audi A4 (B8) has not yet been introduced into the body of a cabriolet, as the market presents convertible versions of family models Audi A5 Coupe and Audi S5 Coupe.
Also, Audi has released a version of cars with improved performance of the A4, including the Audi S4 and the low-availability version with high performance Audi RS4, which are directly related to the model A4.
